New Wallet

// September 14th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Home

Mark and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary last week.The traditional gift for this is leather, and you would think this would be an easy task for a pair of boys like us, but in Perth the options are somewhat limited. Mark managed to find me a Dosh Atlantis wallet [link], and although this is technically not leather, and is made from silicon rubber, it is a great anniversary gift. IĀ  have wanted these for ages, and it has really forced me to trim down what I carry to the absolute bare essentials as it only holds 6 cards, and has a money clip. I hate having in big fat wallet ala Seinfeld like the video below, and as you can see, Marks wallet could get a job as an extra on the show.

Spring In Kings Park

// September 13th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Home, Photography

The weather put on a lovely sunny spring day, and Mark and I cycled to Kings Park in the city. We have not been on our bikes since last summer; and tomorrow will be very stiff and have saddle-sore bums. Spring is a great time in WA, with millions of wildflowers carpeting parts of the State. Kings Park Botanical Gardens has a selection of these neatly arranged into beds based on their classification and regions. I took quite a few photos, and created a set on Flickr, and a selection us below.

Fastest One Eyed Dog in the West

A few weeks ago we arrived home and in the excitement of us being home Mishca ran out into the garden, and out there she has either run past a thorny rosebush or cornered one of our cats. The result was a nasty scratch on her eye, and it has had to be removed. She has now fully recovered from the surgery and is back to her lazy self.

I snapped these photos of her this morning of her being cute with my lensbaby lens.

New Furniture

About 4 weeks ago Mark and I were gifted a nice little sum of money thanks to “Fair shake of the sauce bottle” Kevin Rudd. This money is called stimulation, and is supposed to be spent. We put a bit of thought into what to spend it on, and decided on buying a couch. The best thing is this couch is made right here in West Australia, and we did exactly what K-Rudd wanted us to with his stimulation. This is the first time we have actually bought a couch where we put a lot of thought into what we wanted, how it should look, and how big it should be. I did have a panic atack when it turned up, it seemed much smaller in the shop, but we have managed to fit her in and it looks great.

Mark and I recently went to the West Australian Art Gallery, and saw an exhibition of designer furniture. once of the pieces at the exhibition was the ‘Campfire’ table. When I got home a Googled to see where I could get one, but the $2300 price tag was far too prohibitive- that is like over 3 simulations. So we headed off to faithful Bunnings and set about building our own one. It only took a few hours to chisel out the bits, and I am not much of a handy-man, and usually end up making a mess and ending up with a half-finished project, but this was so easy, and I think it looks great.

Roses

// May 13th, 2009 // No Comments » // Home

The rose season is about to end and this means that winter is coming and these are the last flowers I’ll see until spring. I now have to cut the rose bushes back to the old knobbly trunks, and let them sit dormant over the cooler months waiting from spring.

Chad

Chad says good morning every morning, I don’t belive he is actually glad we are awake, but glad of the prospect of some food appearing in his bowl. He likes having his photo taken, but this can be tricky because he thinks having a lens pointed in his face is ideal for rubbing his nose and ears againt. I took this with my new lensbaby lens.
